Anton's Bistrot Anton’s Bistrot is named after a local well-known cartoonist whose work regularly appeared in Punch magazine. There is more information above the fireplace in the lounge.
Our head chef Nick Hampson started his career as a kitchen assistant at the Michelin-rated Ritcher’s Restaurant in Wells, Somerset. He combined his role at Ritcher’s with training at Weston College, winning trainee Chef of the Year in 2000. He graduated to chef de partie by the time he left Ritcher’s in 2001 to travel.
Nick worked for two years in a number of prestigious restaurants in both Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, before returning to Wells in 2004 to join The Crown at Wells & Anton’s Bistrot. Nick is passionate about food and his ethos is to source good, local produce, wherever possible, to provide diners with a fabulous meal at a reasonable price.
